Andrea is Italian and was born in Bologna in 1971. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Translation from Forli's Scuola Superiore di Lingue Moderne per Interpreti e Traduttori (SSLiMIT), University of Bologna. After graduation he combined his career as freelance translator with Italian language teaching experiences both in Italy and abroad. He spent almost 10 months in Ecuador as volunteer professor at the Universidad Técnica de Ambato within a cooperation program sponsored by the Embassy of Italy in Quito. In 2000 he spent 6 months in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) for the University of Bologna working as Italian lecturer for the King Saud University. Then he joined a translation and globalization company based in the Dominican Republic, where he worked during 14 months as in-house Italian translator and was promoted to Italian supervisor. Since late 2001 he came back to Italy, working as full-time freelance translator. He translates from English and Spanish into Italian. He is currently collaborating with a major Italian press company for real-time finance-related press news translations as well as for a Digital Bros Company for sports-news translations (he loves soccer and basketball). His main subject areas are arts & literature (UNESCO Encyclopedia History of Humanity), business & commerce, general finance and economics, legal, sports, tourism (Rough guides), website translations and subtitling. He is a sworn translator for the Court of Bologna, Italy as well as linguistic consultant for the Chamber of Commerce and for the CNA (Confederazione Nazionale dell'Artigianato) of Bologna.
Andrea
has been fascinated by language—extinct, classical, or modern—since
high school. Studying in Milano, he went on to earn a B.A. and Master’s
in economics as well as diplomas in classical Arabic and software
localization.
That early passion for language underpins his translation work, be it
business, legal, technical, or literary. Difficult texts stimulate him;
removing all traces of the source language without loss of meaning and
nuance and without overly inflating a text requires a rigorous approach
which he has mastered and enjoys. Andrea’s approach also includes due
consideration of client and reviewer feedback and suggestions.
Repeat assignments from customers attest to his success. Although the
breadth of his clientele precludes specialization in one field, Andrea
has developed micro-specializations after lengthy translation projects
in such diverse areas as accounting software, electrical engineering,
or medical device manuals. The work as a translator allows him freedom
of movement. Both his house in the US and in Italy are equipped for
work.
Born in South-East Italy in 1972, Giuseppe has studied and worked in Belgium, France, Dominican Republic and England. Native Italian speaker, Giuseppe is fluent in French, English and Spanish. Giuseppe obtained a BA in Intepreting at the Advanced School for Translators and Interpreters of Forlì (University of Bologna) in 1998 and, since then, he has been working as a translator. He is also a certified member (MCIL) of the Chartered Institute of Linguists (IOL). He has worked as in-house translator for three years in the Dominican Republic for an important localization company and for 2.5 years for one of the biggest translation agency in the word, based in the UK. He is specialized in IT, software, games and multimedia, marketing, finance and legal documentation. Giuseppe is now living in the Dominican Republic and works as a freelance, translating from English, French and Spanish into Italian.
