Andrea is Italian and was born in Bologna in 1971. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Translation from Forli's Scuola Superiore di Lingue Moderne per Interpreti e Traduttori (SSLiMIT), University of Bologna. After graduation he combined his career as freelance translator with Italian language teaching experiences both in Italy and abroad. He spent almost 10 months in Ecuador as volunteer professor at the Universidad Técnica de Ambato within a cooperation program sponsored by the Embassy of Italy in Quito. In 2000 he spent 6 months in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) for the University of Bologna working as Italian lecturer for the King Saud University. Then he joined a translation and globalization company based in the Dominican Republic, where he worked during 14 months as in-house Italian translator and was promoted to Italian supervisor. Since late 2001 he came back to Italy, working as full-time freelance translator. He translates from English and Spanish into Italian. He is currently collaborating with a major Italian press company for real-time finance-related press news translations as well as for a Digital Bros Company for sports-news translations (he loves soccer and basketball). His main subject areas are arts & literature (UNESCO Encyclopedia History of Humanity), business & commerce, general finance and economics, legal, sports, tourism (Rough guides), website translations and subtitling. He is a sworn translator for the Court of Bologna, Italy as well as linguistic consultant for the Chamber of Commerce and for the CNA (Confederazione Nazionale dell'Artigianato) of Bologna.
