Here are some questions about our translation services that our customers regularly ask us.

What Payment Methods do you Accept?

We accept payment by bank transfer to a European bank account with an IBAN, a US bank account, and through PayPal. Generally, we prefer not to receive checks. Please don’t hesitate to ask if you need more information about methods of payment.

What is Your Pricing Structure and how do you Determine the Cost of a Translation Project?

Our pricing for translation projects can vary depending on several factors, including the language pair, the complexity of the content, the volume of text, and the deadline for completion. In addition, our rates may differ based on the level of expertise or qualifications required for the translator. For specific pricing information and details about our pricing structure, we recommend contacting us directly.

What are Your Normal Payment Terms?

All invoices should be paid no later than 15 days after the invoice date, unless otherwise agreed upon in writing by BeTranslated. Unpaid invoices will be subject to a 15% service charge (with a minimum of 50 Euros) per reminder without any prior notification.

Do you Give a Discount if the Text I Need you to Translate Contains a lot of Repetitions?

If a text contains almost identical passages, the translation process is obviously faster and we generally agree on a discount. If this is the case with your text, please let us know when you request your quote.

Are Urgent Projects More Expensive?

They can be, but not necessarily – every project is different. We publish standard turnaround times based on the volume of words to translate, the number of languages, and any extra work such as layout editing. If we have to go faster than our standard timing, then we may need to have larger teams, pay resources for overtime or weekend work, or add extra management layers, all of which can incur extra costs for us, so a “rush fee” could be applied. The amount of the fee depends on the difference between our standard turnaround time and your desired turnaround time. The greater the difference, the more likely it is that we will apply a rush fee. For example, if you ask us to deliver a three day project in only two days, we probably won’t ask you to pay a rush fee. However delivering a project that should take two weeks over the weekend will most certainly incur a rush fee. Do you Offer Certified Translations for Legal or Official Documents?

Yes, BeTranslated offers certified translations for legal or official documents. These translations are performed by professional translators who are certified or have extensive experience in translating legal and official documents. The translation is accompanied by a signed and stamped certificate of accuracy, which attests that the translation is a true and accurate representation of the original document.

Certified translations are commonly required for legal or official documents such as birth certificates, marriage certificates, diplomas, transcripts, immigration documents, and legal contracts. BeTranslated’s certified translations are accepted by government agencies, courts, and other official entities.

If you require a certified translation, it is best to contact us directly to discuss your specific needs and requirements.

Do you Offer Layout Editing Services in InDesign and Other Software?

Yes, translation work often involves creating final publishable versions and we are happy to offer our customers desktop publishing services in all of the major platforms including InDesign, Illustrator and Publisher. Translation can dramatically alter the layout of a document and if you spent a lot of time and effort on the original, chances are that the foreign language file will not look the same. We can fix that for you. If you have a PDF document you can send it to us for an indicative quote, however we will ask you to send us the original file for a definitive quote. If we have to recreate a version in InDesign, for example, from a PDF file, the price will be much higher so it’s worth finding the original. We can also extract the text from images and put them back in. Just tell us what you need and we’ll find a way to get it for you. For more information, check out this page on working with PDF files.

Do you Offer Proofreading or Editing Services for Translations?

Yes, however the price can vary. Proofreading is when we revise a translation done by somebody else that we do not know. If that translation has too many problems — which is often the case with machine translation or if a text was translated by a non-native speaker — then the revision could require as much time as a new full translation, and the quote will reflect this. We might also decide that the quality of the translation is so low that we have to produce an entirely new translation, in which case our usual translation rates apply. If the quality is relatively high and the translation requires only small corrections (spelling, grammar, style, etc.), our rate is usually one-third of that of a translation.

Do you Offer Transcription Services?

BeTranslated offers transcription services. We can transcribe audio and video files in various formats and languages. We use professional transcriptionists who are experienced in transcribing a wide range of content types, including interviews, podcasts, webinars, and more.

If you require transcription services, it is best to contact us directly to discuss your specific needs and requirements, including the source language and the desired target language, the format of the original file, the turnaround time, and any other relevant details.

What Languages do you Offer Translation Services for?

In general, we translate in any combination of the world’s most popular languages. Our process involves recruiting the right practitioners for each job and training them on our processes. While the most frequent requests involve English, French, Dutch, Italian, Spanish and German, we translate a lot of business content into Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Indonesian and Vietnamese, and for NGOs we frequently translate into Bangla, Urdu, Arabic, Tagolog, and a variety of rare languages. What is your turnaround time for completing a translation project?

Our turnaround time can vary depending on several factors, such as the length and complexity of the text, the language pair involved, the level of expertise required, and the client’s desired deadline.

A translator usually translates 2000 words per day, but it always depends on the factors mentioned above.

What is Your Process for Ensuring Quality in the Translation?

At our company, we follow a multi-step process to ensure high-quality translations. This process typically involves translation by a qualified and experienced translator who is a native speaker of the target language, editing by a second linguist to ensure accuracy, clarity, and fluency, and quality assurance by a project manager or quality control specialist who checks the translation against the client’s specifications and requirements. We also ask for and incorporate client feedback to improve the quality of our translations and ensure client satisfaction in future projects.

What is your Policy for Revisions or Corrections?

BeTranslated has a policy for revisions and corrections to ensure that the client is satisfied with the final translation. If the client is not satisfied with the translation, they can request a revision or correction. We strive to address any issues or concerns that the client may have with the translation as quickly and efficiently as possible.

What File Formats do you Accept for Translation?

BeTranslated accepts a wide range of file formats for translation, including but not limited to:

I’m not Sure if the Text I need to Translate has Been well Written or Edited. Will the Translation Have the Same Issues?

Absolutely not, unless you ask us explicitly to translate the text this way. The translation will be well-written and natural-sounding even if the source has errors. In fact, we communicate any errors we find in the source text so that you can fix it on your end. Please note, however, if the source text is unclear, the translation process will take longer and the translator may have questions in order to ensure that they fully understand the information they are translating.

How do you Ensure Confidentiality and Data Security During the Translation Process?

BeTranslated takes confidentiality and data security very seriously and has implemented several measures to protect client data and ensure the privacy of our clients’ information. Do I Need to Supply a Glossary or Other Reference Material?

A glossary is a tool for the professional management of highly technical texts. It ensures consistency between different parts of the text that may be assigned to several translators, as well as between various documents dealing with the same subject. It’s also the best way to ensure a smooth and fast translation process. Therefore, if you have a glossary, please don’t hesitate to let us know so that we can follow the terminology to the letter.

Can I Send you Paper Documents by Mail or Fax?

We prefer not to work with paper documents. If you need us to translate a paper document, please scan it and send it to us as image or PDF file.
