There are different types of stays and of very different lengths to go to London to learn English in London.
It all depends, of course on you, your desires, the time you can devote to it, your intentions, your budget, etc.
Short Stays in an English School in London
You have the option of coming for a short stay (lasting a week or two). These courses are usually held during the vacations.
The purpose of these courses is either to combine the practice of the language with a visit to London and its surroundings, or to prepare for a competitive examination (to enter an English university for example) or an exam (TOEIC, TOEFL, etc…) or simply to improve your grades before a French exam (such as the baccalauréat for example).
Long Stays in London in an English School
You can also stay for a longer or shorter period of time. In the first instance, long stays are typically organized in an English high school or university. For example, you can spend a year in London in one of the best ranking universities and High Schools to obtain your A-Levels.
This can be very interesting for you if you already know that you want to study abroad during your higher education. Indeed, it will be easier for you to get into an English university and to prove your level of English without necessarily having to take another exam (but this depends on the university, so make sure you find out beforehand).
Secondly, you can come for an internship, of varying lengths. The average duration of an internship is 2 to 6 months. As we explained in a previous article, you don’t necessarily have to be a student to have the opportunity to do an internship in a company in London.
Finally, you can simply come for a gap year or after your studies. For a gap year, you can work as an au pair, or in bars, restaurants, or stores, in order to improve your English and have an incredible international experience.
During this experience, you will be able to take language classes (either during or before starting a job), so that you will be ready to speak English no matter what job you do. But no matter how long you stay, the problem remains the same: how to find a language school that will suit you best? Indeed, on the Internet, there is so much information that it is difficult to make a choice.
