After studying for a year at the Pushkin Language Institute in Moscow and working as a translator/interpreter for the US Air Force in Germany at their Ramstein headquarters, Sandra moved to Chicago, where she lives with her husband and children.
She was first contacted by BeTranslated for translation projects in 2006, and since then has worked mainly in the fields of marketing, law, and IT. She regularly translates from English to German and from German to English.
In 2001, she went travelling for a year with her partner and two children, translating her way through Asia, Australia and the North and South American continents. Getting a taste for the art of truly global localisation, she based herself in New Zealand where she is taking advantage of the sun and the time difference – she now works whilst her European and North American clients sleep and delivers when they get up.
She translates mainly from English into German.
Her areas of expertise are IT-related material, hardware, telecommunications, online learning, software license agreements, computer games, and – her love and joy – educational software for children. On her to-do list is still the translation of a travel book and a book on Middle Eastern dance.
