German is one of the six core languages in which
BeTranslated specializes. Rather than offering you 140 languages, we
have selected a small group and concentrated on building depth and
proficiency while offering you quality, personalized service and quick
turnaround.
Why translate to or from German?
German is the native language of approximately 100 million people around the world.
German will continue to gain importance as the
European Union continues its expansion eastwards. Germany has strong
economic ties with the USA and France and is the economic engine of
Europe. It is one of the most powerful economies in the world, with
large-scale imports and exports to many nations.
German is a leading language in business, science,
technology and engineering. Think of just how many documents, manuals
and user guides written by German engineers and technicians need to be
translated to other languages such as English, Dutch, French, Spanish
and Italian.
Germans enjoy some of the strongest purchasing
power in the world. To attract them as business partners or customers,
you'll have to communicate with them in their language.
German is recognized as the language of commerce within the European Union.
Standard German vs. Swiss German and Austrian German
Within the BeTranslated network, all different
aspects of German language, culture, business and other fields are
covered. In order to guarantee top-quality translations, we distinguish
among several variations of German and work with native speakers of the
target language only. For your business in Switzerland and Austria, we
have linguists who specialize in those German variants.
German Translators
We choose the right German
translator for each project, with the right language flavor and the
appropriate experience in the subject matter of your document. If you
need a computer-related document translated to German, the member of
our network with the precise skills needed will take on the project.
Translation quality cannot be left to chance; it relies on skill and
experience!
Large projects? Quick turnaround? Kein Problem
Our global network of translators
working to or from German (e.g., German-Spanish, German-Dutch,
German-Italian, German-French) can readily handle German translations
with quick turnaround times. Furthermore, BeTranslated’s strength lies
in its capacity to quickly and efficiently set up a team of 4 or 5
translators (to or from German) to complete your urgent projects while
maintaining high quality. We will accommodate any reasonable request.
However, please do not expect a 200-page long technical user guide that
required 6 months to write to be translated overnight or in a couple of
days!
Whether it's German to English or English to German,
or German in any other language pair, all BeTranslated associates have
internationally recognized translation degrees or qualifications, with
many years of collective experience. All our translators work primarily
in their mother tongues. In highly technical fields, we may have to
source subject experts rather than linguists, but even in these cases,
a language expert always checks linguistic issues, style, grammar and
spelling.
Translation rates for the German language
German translations are usually more costly than other language pairs for various reasons. While
quoting an amount per source word is quickly becoming the norm in the
translation industry, German translators are confronted with the fact
that German words are usually longer, thus requiring many more keyboard
strokes to type the German translation of, let's say, an English text.
What’s more, the vast majority of German translators live in Germany,
Switzerland, and Austria. The cost of living in these countries is the
highest of Europe and probably in the world. Therefore, our per-word
quotes for German translation are slightly higher than our other
languages.
As is evident, a number of factors influence the price of a translation.
That is the reason that we ask you to send us all files that require
translation as soon as possible, so that we can provide you with an
exact quote, based on all the factors mentioned above.
Note on Adobe Acrobat pdf files
To avoid problems, we like to point out that
converting a pdf file into Word for editing corrupts the layout of the
text, mostly the embedded tables and pictures.
