Why choose BeTranslated as your partners for Dutch translation?
Because the two founders of BeTranslated are natives
of trilingual Belgium, they naturally focused on the most represented
language of this country, Flemish (followed by French, then German –
which many find surprising). They were joined by a native Flemish
translator living in the Netherlands who largely contributed to the
development of our Dutch and Belgian network of translators.
Why translate to or from Dutch?
-
Dutch is spoken worldwide by around 24 million
people. The number rises to 32 million if one counts speakers of
Afrikaans, a language that developed from transplanted Dutch colonists
in southern Africa in the 17th Century. Today, Afrikaans is spoken in
South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia, and is comprehensible to most Dutch
speakers.
-
Dutch is spoken in The Netherlands, Belgium, Suriname, Aruba, Netherlands Antilles, South Africa, and Indonesia..

Belgium or The Netherlands? Flemish or Dutch?
Flemish is the collective term often used for the
Dutch dialects spoken in Belgium. It is not a separate language (though
the term is often also used to distinguish the standard Dutch spoken in
Flanders from that of the Netherlands), nor are the dialects in Belgium
more closely related to each other than to the dialects in the
Netherlands.
The standard form of Netherlandic Dutch differs
somewhat from Belgian Dutch or Flemish. Flemish favours older words and
is also perceived as "softer" in pronunciation and discourse than
Netherlandic Dutch, and some Dutchmen find it quaint. In contrast,
Netherlandic Dutch is perceived as harsh and guttural to Belgians, and
some Belgians perceive it as overly assertive, hostile and even
somewhat arrogant.
As you can see, your choice of Dutch translator is
very important and it pays to make certain you are getting someone with
the cultural and linguistic knowledge to reach a Belgian, Dutch or
other specific audience.
Understanding the myriad national habits and
nuances, and assigning the best qualified professional to your project,
is what sets BeTranslated apart. Translation is a specialized industry
and our aim is to provide the right solution 100 percent of the time.
BeTranslated will provide the right Dutch/Flemish translator for your needs
As highlighted above, and according to your target
audience, we will assign Flemish or Dutch translators with thorough
knowledge of the source language and subject matter. Our skilled Dutch
speaking translators will render your source text into a Dutch document
readily understood by all Dutch speakers.
Large translation projects to Dutch? Quick turnaround?
Our global network of translators working to or from
Dutch can readily handle Dutch translations with quick turnaround
times. Furthermore, BeTranslated’s strength lies in its capacity to
quickly and efficiently set up a team of 4 or 5 translators
(to or from Dutch) to complete your urgent projects while maintaining
high quality. We will accommodate any reasonable request. However,
please do not expect a 200-page long technical user guide that required
6 months to write to be translated overnight or in a couple of days!
Whether it's Dutch to English or English to Dutch, or Dutch in any other language pair (Dutch-French, Spanish-Dutch, Italian-Dutch, French-Dutch, Dutch-Italian, Dutch-German,
etc.), all BeTranslated associates have internationally recognized
translation degrees or qualifications, with many years of collective
experience. All our translators translate exclusively into their mother
tongues. Some very technical fields may require subject experts rather
than linguists, but even in these cases, a language expert always
checks linguistic issues, style, grammar and spelling.
Translation rates for the Dutch language
Our rates range from EUR 0.1 (US $0.13) to EUR 0.15 (US $0.20) per source word, according to the following factors:
As is evident, a number of factors influence the price of a translation.
That is the reason that we ask you to send us all files that require
translation as soon as possible, so that we can provide you with an
exact quote, based on all the factors mentioned above.
Note on Adobe Acrobat pdf files
To avoid problems, we like to point out that
converting a pdf file into Word for editing corrupts the layout of the
text, mostly the embedded tables and pictures.
